Why Is There No "U" In Qantas?

So far we have flown on Australia's Qantas Airlines from the US to Sydney and from Sydney to Melbourne. The first time we boarded a Qantas flight I was oddly disturbed by the missing "u" but then learned it is an acronym for Australia's leading airline: Queensland and Northern Territory Aerial Service. Ahhhhh. So there. OK! Qantas was established in the Queensland outback in 1920; it is now a highly regarded domestic and international airline.

This morning (Saturday in Australia) we fly to Alice Springs, in the very middle of the continent, for a change of climate and culture! Our trip is amazing each day.

Very little access to WiFi -- right now racing to post this as we board our flight. More later, I hope!
