English is the primary language of Australia but some of the words and phrases people use are quite new to us. Do you know what "tucker" means? Food! "Chook" (chicken). "Mate" (friend). "Make a good fist" (do a good job). "Billabong" (waterhole, as in the song Waltzing Matilda). So there. Now we can speak Australian. Hey, mate. Let's have some tucker--chook, you say?--by the billabong!
