I think we have told you a bit about bush food, some of the kinds of edible foods that grow wild and have been traditionally gathered by Aboriginal peoples. Now for a sampling of the Australian table foods we have had now and again.
The meal pictured here is from an extensive buffet of choices at the Outback Pioneer Lodge at Urulu: smoked kangaroo, wallaby, lamb, crocodile curry (very tasty -- like chicken with a hint of fish, surprisingly light), cucumber salad with squash, a bit of rice, and steamed fig pudding with brandy custard for dessert!
Join us as we head down under to Australia and New Zealand, a part of the world completely new to us but inhabited for a long, long time. Our blog address is ozandkiwi2013 because Australia is sometimes called "Oz" and the New Zealand people are affectionately called "Kiwis" for the bird very common in that country. Both countries have very rich histories and cultures; we want to share as much adventure as we can with our young grandchildren and other friends and family!
