Today, our last official day on the Road Scholar tour, we visited Australia's rainforest, a richtucked along the northeast coast of Queensland. We started high on mountain slopes in Kurunda Village. The butterfly aviary took our breath away. We then caught the gondola downhill, moving swiftly over the lush canopy of trees, alert to all the living species residing there. We ended in an Aboriginal Cultural Center, hearing digeridos, learning about bush medicine, trying our hands at spear throwing (unsuccessfully) and boomerangs (semi-successfully)!
Join us as we head down under to Australia and New Zealand, a part of the world completely new to us but inhabited for a long, long time. Our blog address is ozandkiwi2013 because Australia is sometimes called "Oz" and the New Zealand people are affectionately called "Kiwis" for the bird very common in that country. Both countries have very rich histories and cultures; we want to share as much adventure as we can with our young grandchildren and other friends and family!
