FACT Australia: Continent and Country

Australia is the only island continent (not attached by land to any other country) and the only continent to be occupied by a single nation in the world!

It has six states and two territories, most of which are much larger geographically than a state in our country. So far we have been in New South Wales (in Sydney), Victoria (in Melbourne), and today we flew to the territory of Northern Australia (in Alice Springs). We arrived last night in Queensland (in the city of Cairns, pronounced Cans).... Tropical with mountains! Great Barrier Reef today :)

There is much to know about the governance of states, the federation and the territories but in my opinion it's not unlike what we already know in the United States, so I rather tell you the fun stuff and see if we can get some pictures onto our blog!
